12/5/2012 0 Comments Worship WednesdayThis Worship Wednesday we will be focusing on celebrating the character of our God. When we can recognize God for who he truly is, we will have all the more reason to worship him and praise his name. Let’s come to a fuller understanding of the character and nature of the God we worship. God is our provider. According to the Book of Genesis in the Bible, he is our Jehovah-jireh. He provides us with everything we need. In the Old Testament God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son Isaac. Abraham went ahead and even lifted his knife after placing Isaac on the sacrificial altar, when God stopped him. There Abraham sacrifices a ram instead of Isaac. There he describes God as Jehovah Jireh , “God will provide”. Paul in Romans 8:32 states ,”Indeed, he who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all – how will he not also, along with him, freely give us all things?” Here he is making an important point as to how the God who gave Jesus to die for us on the cross will also freely provide us with everything we need. That’s the extent to which God provides. He is perfect and so his providence for us is also perfect. Paul exactly applies what Abraham stated, that “God will provide”. If he has given Jesus to die on the cross for us, the Holy for the unholy, the sinless in the place of the sinful, how much great is God’s care and concern for us. No one in this world can care for you as much as God does. God provides for those who trust him and give top priority to seeking God’s kingdom and righteous living. Only these people have the privilege of access to the full providence of God. These people have been commanded to live a life without worry living in the purpose and plan he has created. So I challenge you to wake up every morning and be fully conscious that God has granted everything we need for a life for His glory. The more we acknowledge Him as our provider, the more He will reveal it to us in our own lives. God will provide. Let us thank God for all that he has provided us with, the relationship we have with him, His Holy Spirit, his sacrifice “Jesus” for our sins which makes the former two blessings possible, His daily providence of food, good health, happiness, peace, meaning, purpose, job, family, money, skills, abilities and many many more. Oswald Chambers says, “Worship is giving God the best that He has given you.” Whether it is finances, talents, or time, decide to worship God by the action of returning a portion back to Him. Thank Him for taking care of every detail of the treasures He has entrusted to you. Be like the Magi who bowed and worshipped the Lord as they presented their gifts. While offering your worship, thank God for all He has provided for you. Let us take time to thank him for these gifts and worship him as Jehovah-jireh, “Our provider”. God’s provision surely requires our worship!
