11/27/2012 0 Comments Intercession TuesdayPrayer Wall in The Sanctuary It’s Intercession Tuesday in The Sanctuary and we are in our “40 Days of Healing”. On this 7th day of healing we will be praying for healing from loss and grief. When we do not heal from the feelings of loss and the emotion of grief it will hinder our growth and render us ineffective and if not dealt with properly it will eventually destroy our lives. Therefore, it is important that if we want to live in the fullness of God and walk in His authority and power we must heal our hearts from the pain of loss and overcome grief. I know personally the effect of of loss and grief. The past 5 years I have dealt with so much loss, jobs, relationships, death; the greatest being my Father. His sudden death left me lost and alone with a severely aching heart; searching to find who “Yolanda” was without my best friend, confidant, my protector, my first love. But this past year I have been able to really live what I have been taught and what I teach - that the words we use about a Heavenly Father who is who is able to emphathize with our weakness and invites us to boldly approach His throne of grace are all true. And believe me, other than the promise of eternal life, I can’t think of a promise that is more vital. How does He do it? If you’re the one just getting the news of a loved one passing, or leaving the cemetery or the courthouse or the hospital, what can you expect? How does the Lord put the pieces back together? While every experience of loss – whether it is through death, rejection, forced job termination, or the death of a dream, or a relationship – is unique, Jesus extends an open invitation to everyone who is heavy hearted, and spiritually thirsty to come to Him, the source of abiding comfort and peace, for He refuses no one. He warmly calls to all of us,“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Because believers enjoy the benefits of the indwelling Christ who, (as well as the Holy Spirit and God the Father) comforts them, they have a wonderful resource available that enables them to find peace, even in the midst of life’s deepest sorrows and disappointments. Grief is a natural human response to loss, regardless whether we are Christian believers or not. It is a complex reaction that sometimes envelopes one’s mind and emotions to such an extent that it brings us into the darkest valley of human experience. There is no way to escape grief, for it comes to all of us—the only way through it is through it. Our great consolation is that Jesus promised to go through it with us. We have God’s promise that weeping may endure for a short time, but “joy comes in the morning.” It is not unspiritual to grieve or feel the painful emotions that accompany deep sorrow.Jesus suffered grief and, in fact, was called a “man of sorrows.” Grief is anatural response to losing a loved one to death. However, it is also a natural response when we experience the loss of anything we deeply love or desire or look forward to. When we experience a significant loss in our lives, we are forced to change our course and adjust our hearts to accommodate a new direction. We might struggle with this because what we are forced to face on one hand conflicts with what we deeply long for on the other. Still, it is a necessary adjustment requiring time and patience. The path to acceptance and reorientation to our changed life is never instantaneous. It is a journey. However, it is a journey we do not have to travel alone and one that is not without purpose or promise. When grief is coupled with hope in God’s love and promises and dependence on His provision and care, we can look forward to the day when we are led out of the dark shadows of deep sorrow into the warm sunlight of renewed hopes and dreams. When our hearts are overwhelmed we have only to cry out to the “Rock” that is higher than we and pour out our heart before Him. He has promised to hear our cries and be our refuge. He will comfort our hearts when we come to Him for help and healing as no one and no other thing can do. Others who have fled to Jesus for comfort testify, “When I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me the strength I need. (Psalm 138:3). Our tender Shepherd and Saviour urges us to call upon Him in times of trouble and promises those who do that he will deliver them. “Trust me in your times of trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.” (Psalm. 50:15) ◊INTERCESSION PRAYER◊ Heavenly Father, I thank you for Psalm 138:3, you said if I pray that you will answer me and give me strength. I am praying to you Dear Father to give me strength as I deal with the loss. I seem to be frozen with this overwhelming grief. I don’t understand why my life is filled with this pain and heartache. But I turn my eyes to you as I seek to find the strength to trust your faithfulness. You, Lord are a God of comfort and love and I ask You to help me to patiently wait on you and not despair. I will quietly wait for your salvation. My heart is crushed but I know that you will not abandon me. Please show me your compassion. Lord, help me through the pain and the aching of my heart so that I will hope in You again. I believe the promise in your Word to send me fresh mercy each day. Though I can’t see past today, I trust your love will never fail me. Jesus, You came to heal the brokenhearted and my heart is broken today Lord, and only you can heal my sorrow over my loss. I ask You, Lord to comfort me because You love me and have promised me everlasting consolation and hope through Your grace. Blessed be to God, the God of mercy and all comfort; who comforts me in all my tribulations, that I may be protected from any trouble and hurt as I walk with you, Lord through the grief and pain. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen. If you are need of prayer, please submit a request via our Connect From on our website or you may email to [email protected]. We will place your request on our Prayer Wall and prayers will go forth on your behalf.
