Worship Wednesday

Picture
A personal relationship with God is necessary to experience true worship. If there is no personal relationship than worship is merely an empty exercise in religious form and ritual, only when we truly know Him does our worship become a reality. Our worship to Him should be an expression of surrender, adoration and reverence. To reverence and adore him you must have faith and trust in him. And to trust him is to have a humble obedience. Trusting him is voluntarily surrendering to Him of our will, our wants, our needs and desires: It is almost like taking on childlike qualities. As my friend Marsha Brown eloquently shared with me when she sent me this song, “it is similar to that of a child who lift their hands to be picked up, comforted, protected, or carried. It is allowing him to be our Father, trusting that he knows what is best for us. It means waiting patiently for him to move, speak, or bring direction. And despite what our present circumstances may be, despite what we feel, despite what we see, we have a posture of worship. We are worshiping our Father with our arms outstretched symbolic of our dependence of His presence, blessing, comfort, and strength and to show that we are thankful and grateful for His great works in our lives. Alleluia!

"Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on your name" - Psalms 63.3-4
