2/25/2015 0 Comments Peace in Transition![]() Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6, ESV) Its transition time. All over the Kingdom of God and throughout the Church the word of the hour is “transition”. We keep hearing that but what does it mean. Are we all in transition? If so, is your transition going to spill over and affect my transition? Where is God when we go through the transitions in our lives? The Good News is that we can experience God in the transitions. This is God’s Word to Joshua and the people of Israel as they were about to make a some major transitions. There was the leadership transition from Moses to Joshua, the geographical transition from the wilderness to the promised land. Moses’ assignment at this point in his life and ministry was to prepare this generation for the major transitions they were about to experience. God’s Word to Joshua and the people of Israel as they are about to make some major transitions consisted of some commands and some promises. He told them to be strong, courageous, do no fear or dread the enemy but know that the Lord is with them and will never leave or forsake them. I think that too often we rely on our own strength and when things get tough we get stressed because we cannot always achieve what we desire. With the right approach, attitude, and action, life transitions can be manageable and even positive. I know personally that transition can be an uncomfortable, fearful place. But when we involve the Lord, we get inner strength by the prompting of the Holy Spirit. It gives us a spirit of boldness that handles situations that we could not handle in our own strength. The Lord stands by us and He supports us by filling us with a peace that goes beyond our understanding. God is the God who is there. He is Lord in the transitions. When we walk through times of transition in our lives, He is right there with us walking along side us through the transitions. He is going before us. He gives us the strength and the courage to face them without fear and without being dismayed or overwhelmed. He sustains us by His presence and He encourages us by His promises. He assures us of His love for us through Christ and He empowers us by His Spirit. He is sending you this message today in the midst of your transition to let you know this is not your final destination. You’re headed somewhere. He is going to bless you and bring you into your place of promise. Now let’s pray. Enter into PrayerDear Lord Jesus,

2/17/2015 0 Comments He is Your Shepherd…So Rest![]() One of the major commitments of The Sanctuary, is to provide the tools to break the chains over our lives that will hinder us from walking in the abundance and fullness that God promised us in His Word. Many of us can attribute that the hinderances and barriers we face in life are due to finances. As of January 2015, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) was at 2.8 million. Even those with steady jobs have found that our buying power has diminished. Some of us have not had a wage adjustment since 2007. These are rough days, and many families are struggling. Economists predict that even as the current recession eases, there is a possibility that chronic job loss will continue for months and even years. So, it’s not a stretch to say that every person is somehow affected by the current economic uneasiness, either directly or through someone close. What do we do? One answer: we can pray, we can say God's words to Him. God does care about our provision. “The God who provides” is actually one of the Old Testament names for God. Giving is his nature. He has created us, and promises to supply all of our needs. In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount he promises that God, our Father knows our practical need for food and shelter and security even before we ask. And when we do He willingly answers. God is close to us at our point of most pressing need. We never have to worry! It’s a real and tangible concern for almost all of us. So let’s put these promises to work. Today in our Intercession we will be praying a Word of provision prayer. Enter into Prayer Heavenly Father, 2/11/2015 0 Comments Don't be Weary in Your Good![]() We all have an assignment. Often times when we are given the assignment, we’re excited about it. Do this and you will find your mate. Pray every day at noon and your marriage will be restored. Feed the homeless and I will bless your household abundantly. Leave your workplace, work for the Kingdom of God and I’ll place wealth and prosperity upon your household. Initially, we are excited with the assignment, however, somewhere along the lines of doing this great work, we get weary. Sometimes I get tired in the Lord's work, but I never get tired of the Lord's work. One of the things I pray to the Lord daily, is doing all the things assigned to me to the glorification of His name only. I also pray to God for joy while doing it. I never want to do an assignment with the wrong heart, selfish intentions or just because I have too. The work of the Lord is good, so if it’s good, why should I be weary doing it? For many of us, God has given an assignment with a promise attached. We must make a conscious decision each day to not be weary in well doing. God has chosen you to do a mighty thing and we should rejoice doing it. During the times when you don’t understand how something is going to get done, don’t get weary. I know it’s not always easy as I’m learning myself to have joy in the Lord and to trust him completely; however, know that before God has given you your assignment, He has worked everything out for your good and He has prepared you for every good work. There are sacrifices we make as Believers. There are things we lose. They will be relationships that will fade away. There are persecutions we face. There are hardships we endure. But we must be firmly rooted in this, God is not a God who shall lie. The Bible states “let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up” (Galatians 6:9) Don't be weary in reading your Bible and seeking to live by what it teaches. Don't be weary in praying for your family, and friends. Don't be weary in sharing your faith with others. Don't be weary in serving the Lord with the gifts that God has given you. Don't be weary because there is a due season,…it is promised. And you will reap if you don't give up. God keeps careful records, and He promises to reward us for our faithfulness. (1 Chronicles 4:9-10) We don’t know much about Jabez. His name only appears three times in the Bible. But we are told in the Word a few important things about him. First, notice that he had a rough start. Something in his mother’s life caused her to give him a name that means pain or sorrow. The Bible doesn’t tell us what her circumstances were, but they were the outstanding feature of Jabez’s entrance into the world. Second, he was honorable. He was honorable, noble – more so than his brothers. When God says you are honorable, it’s usually because you live right. As we have seen, living righteous has an impact on getting your prayers answered. Third, Jabez made his requests known to God. He had desires and he expressed them to God in prayer. This, as we have seen, is crucial to having your needs met. 1 John 5:14-15 says, "This is the confidence which we have [a]before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him…" The prayer of Jabez contains an urgent request for four things: 1) God’s blessing. 2) An expansion of territory. 3) Jabez prays for victory and prosperity in all his endeavors and that his life would be marked by increase. 4) Protection from harm. Jabez looks to God in confidence as his defender. Jabez’s goal in his prayer was to live free from sorrow, and the last thing we read about him is that God heard and answered his prayer. The things Jabez requested were the kinds of things God wants His children to have; true blessings from Him, greater opportunity and responsibility and deliverance from evil. These requests were according to God’s will, so God heard them and answered them. What About You? Does your character remove the roadblocks to answered prayer? Do you make your requests know to God? Are you asking according to the will of God? This grace that was extended to Jabez is ours for the taking today. Our Father gives us an opportunity to finish better than we started. We’re not limited by our past and by faith, we can rise above our past and our Father can advance us beyond our borders into new territory! Enter into IntercessionFather, I surrender myself into your hands. Let Your will be done in my life. Though you sometimes take us through the valley of the shadow of death, yet we should not fear because you have a plan to protect us for harm and to bless us, just as you blessed and extended the territory of Abraham and Jabez. In this season, let me learn from the life of Jabez. Just as you answered Jabez prayer, granted what he had asked and brought him along to the fulfillment of it in that gentle, quiet way by which you lead us into green pastures, and make us to lie down beside still waters. I pray for the courage and boldness to extend the territory of Your Kingdom. |
IntercessionPrayer is the expression of man’s dependence upon God and his confidence in Him. When God answers prayer, He magnifies His faithfulness. Prayer is releasing the energies of God and asking God to do what we cannot do. Prayer is the breathing and panting of the Spirit after God. Prayer is a soul struggle. It is the hardest work God has given His children, but it is their most important work. If you have a Archives
