Broken and Blessed

Picture
Why would anyone choose to be broken? Why would you check into a hospital and allow the surgeon to start cutting? Because you know that surgery is on of the ways you can experience healing and to be physically restored. What makes a woman willing to endure long hours of intense labor? She knows that beyond the labor there will be the joy of a new life.

So why would anyone choose brokenness? Because brokenness brings blessedness.

Brokenness is God’s requirement for maximum usefulness. The Father uses adversity to breaks our self-will and transform us into useful vessels for His kingdom. Usually when people think about facing hardship, they focus on the suffering and pain involved. But what exactly is brokenness? What is its purpose? And is there any way to avoid it and still be useful to God?

Brokenness is the Lord’s method of dealing with our self-reliance—that desire within us to act independently from Him. God wants us to bring every area of our lives into submission to His will, and He uses our trials to lead us to a point of total surrender.

In brokenness, God desires to break our self-will so that we can be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. This means that Brokenness is not chastisement or punishment. When the Father chastens someone, He addresses a present, immediate sin. For the believer, brokenness isn’t a penalty, but an act of mercy intended to bring him to repentance. The Lord does not punish Christians. Only those who reject Him are subject to His wrath. Brokenness is about the future. The Father deals with our attitude for the purpose of conforming us to His will and making us effective ministers to others (Eph. 2:8-10).

And this is achieved through adversity, God targets the areas of self-will in our lives. He wants to break the attitudes that do not honor Him—such as self-righteousness, self-reliance, and self-centeredness, pride, ignorance, fear, worldly entanglements, unhealthy relationships, rebelliousness, and strongholds of the enemy.

Moses was broken in the desert. He spent 40 years learning to obey the Lord, before God used him to free Israel from Egyptian bondage. Christ came and He was broken to bring us the blessing of grace, mercy and power. The apostle Paul’s “thorn in the flesh” kept him from exalting himself, despite his impressive credentials. I was broken into many pieces from the lost of relationships, jobs, personal possessions and my health. And through the brokenness I found my divine purpose, destiny and fulfillment.

We are only as useful to God as we are obedient to Him. Whether He allows difficulties to arise in our family, finances, or health, He does so out of love. When we resist brokenness, we hinder our relationship with the Lord. We delay the fulfillment of God’s will in our lives. We hurt those who are closest to us and we limit what the Father can do through our gifts and talents. We are “put on the shelf”—unused by the Lord and prevented from experiencing His blessings and future rewards. His ultimate purpose is that we become spiritually mature and effective for His kingdom.

What does God keep targeting in your life? Is it your self-reliance? If so, submit to the process of brokenness, and allow Him to control every area of your life. Let Him determine what remains and what must go. Yes, there is suffering in surrendering to the Lord, which may include physical, emotional, spiritual, and even relational pain. But the blessings on the other side of brokenness are certainly worth it!

Enter into Prayer

Dear Jesus, to compare my season of stress with You, Moses and the apostle Paul’s, there is simply no comparison. When I consider everything You and servants experienced, I have nothing to complain about. Nonetheless, Paul’s honesty and vulnerability are what I wish to imitate.

Jesus, in the midst of everything I’d love to fix, change or eliminate, help me to be far more preoccupied with the treasure within than with the pressures of without. I pray that your all-surpassing power will be shown most dramatically through my weakness in this thorn. I surrender to your will. Your incomparable glory will be clearly revealed through my hardships, and I surrender to your ways. Your redeeming purposes will be most fully realized through my brokenness, and I surrender to you.

Though there have been seasons and will be season where throwing in the towel, finding another story, or just flat running away are certainly attractive, but I realize that I have no where to go. You alone give the words of life, the sufficient grace, and the hope of glory. May your voice be ten times louder than the complaining around me and the grumblings inside me. So With my palms up as an act of surrender, I offer freely this earthen vessel.

Father, in the coming hours and days, weeks and years, prove the wonders of your love in my midst.

I pray this prayer not just for myself but for family and friends reeling from betrayals, exhausted by chronic pain, shamed by their foolish choices, disillusioned with ministry, lonely in their marriages, enslaved by an addiction, or just flat out weary from the demands and busyness of life. In Jesus Matchless Name I pray, with expectancy, Amen.

Praying Big & Audacious Prayers For Your Child

Originally posted May 14, 2013

We have received some RAISE REPORTS flowing from our "For Your Soul" Prayer Call on Sundays.

The Bible says that the prayers of the righteous availeth much...and the prayers being made on these calls are changing situations, renewing mindsets and achieving victory. We have been interceding for our young people and we have had praise reports that the Spirit is working  and God's hand is moving in their lives. We went up in praise because the exact things we asked for manifested and this is why I am reposting this prayer.

Today we are interceding on behalf of our "Children". Many are concerned about the direction that our children are going and the many challenges that they face in this world. The sobering news about raising children is that we really have no ultimate control over whether our child will choose the narrow gate that leads to life or the wide gate that leads to destruction. But understanding our desperate need to depend on God is the good news.

With all of the needs children have, many parents wonder if prayer is actually their greatest need. This often stems from a very common misunderstanding. As parents we fall into the trap of believing that we are the ones providing food, clothing, and shelter. We think we are the ones giving them the love and care they need, building character into their lives, and teaching them spiritual truths. While we are often used by God as the vehicle for these needs, it is always God who provides all things, and it is God who is responsible for moving in their hearts (Matthew 6:25-33). God is at work in the lives and hearts of your children. He is the One who restrains your children. God orchestrates the events in their lives, and ultimately they will come to faith only when His Spirit draws them. And prayer is the most significant form of communication that humans, specifically parents, can engage in to draw them in. When a Christian talks to God, all the power of heaven is at play, and cultures, nations, and history lay in the balance. For parents, talking to our kids is critical; talking to God about them is even more so. Ask God to equip you to believe and expect big things of him in prayer. Ask God to show you how to pray big and audacious prayers for your child.

Enter into Intercession

Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus, I affirm Your Word over my child/children. I commit my child/children; to You and affirm Your Word over them from Isaiah 54:13 that tells me my children shall be taught by the Lord and great shall be the peace of my children. I thank You that You deliver them out of rebellion into right relationship with us. In Exodus 20:12, Your Word teaches us that the first commandment given with a promise is to the child who obeys his/her parents in the Lord.

Father, You said in Deuteronomy 5:16 that all will be well with my child/children and will live long on the earth. I affirm this promise on behalf of my child/children, asking You to give them an obedient spirit that he/she may honor his/her father and mother. Father, forgive me for mistakes made out of my own hurts or selfishness, which may have caused them to hurt. I ask full and true repentance for the mistakes I have made in raising my children. I release the anointing that is upon Jesus to bind up and heal our broken hearts and the broken hearts of our children. Give us the ability to understand and forgive one another as God has forgiven us. Thank You for the Holy Spirit Who leads us into all truth and corrects any wrong perceptions about past or present situations. Thank You for teaching us to listen to each other and giving my child an ear that hears admonition, for then he/she will be called wise. I affirm that I will speak kind, excellent and Godly things and that any words coming out of my mouth will be the right words and will be used for Your glory Lord Jesus (Colossians 3:21). Father, I promise to train and teach them in the way that he/she is to go, and when they are old he/she will not depart from You Lord, but will follow You all the days of his/her life. In the Name of Jesus, I command the spirit of rebellion to be far from the heart of my child and confess that he/she is willing and obedient, free to enjoy the reward of Your promises. I ask that they shall be peaceful, and a blessing to others. Father, according to Your Word we have been given the ministry of reconciliation, and I release this ministry and the word of reconciliation into this family. I refuse to provoke or irritate or belittle my child; I will not be hard on them or require perfection lest he/she becomes discouraged, feeling inferior and frustrated. I will not break his/her spirit, in the Name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Father, I forgive my child for the wrongs he/she has done and stand in the gap until he/she begins to understand Your love and Your grace causing them to come out of the spirit of rebellion which is the snare of the enemy (Ephesians 6:1-3). We should not abandon hope in Your love and commitment to all Your creation. We know You Jesus, died for our children, even before they were born. Although It may seem to us that our children’s journey into selfishness, self-destruction and the world is never-ending, God we know You are at work in our children’s lives in ways we may never understand. We ask you, Heavenly Father, for a quiet assurance that this process of conversion will take place and the inner peace that only You, Lord Jesus can give us, will now manifest in our lives, in the Name of Jesus. Help us to be strong like Mary, the mother of Jesus, as she wept and felt deep pain as she witnessed her Son’s journey knowing God’s plan; as You knew Your plans for our children, even before they were born (Jeremiah 1:2).

Help us O Lord, to know and understand that we must let God control difficult situations and always be mindful to trust You. Heavenly Father, help us to remember always that our children have belonged to you from the beginning. Help us Lord to understand that we are here to nurture them and guide them in Your ways while they are in our care. Lord, we have been mindful to raise them up in the way they should go, having made some mistakes of the flesh as we are not perfect. We did what we thought was right at the time and we know that you, Lord, know our heart and honor that effort. It is so difficult, Lord, to understand them and to be the way they would like us to be. Even though it is difficult to understand we continue giving Glory to You and put our complete trust and expectancy in Your Word. Thank You for reconciling the heart of our rebellious child back to us and our hearts back to our child. We declare the power of the enemy over our children, null and void according to (Psalms 55:12-14). Thank You Lord, for our child/children and for holding each one of them in Your loving hands. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

New Divine Season

Picture
As we enter into the new month of April, we are approaching a season of destiny, redemption hope, and power. I believe this is a significant timing as we "end" a season with joy and victory and we're "freed" to cross over into our destiny. In the Bible, during the month of our April, was a very important time.

During this time the Passover was celebrated, a new ecclesiastical year began and our Lord and Savior made His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. He was the final fulfillment of Passover which concludes with the Passover Lamb being taken down from a cross and laid in the tomb of a rich man. But you must remember Jesus orchestrated his capture, which led to his death and resurrection. The timing of this event was not in the best. It would be the worst of times to have this entire “drama” going on, when hundreds of thousands of pilgrims would be making their way into Jerusalem. It is important to note that Jesus was calling the shots and the timing of this event was not a coincidence! Jesus prearranged to present himself as King, riding into Jerusalem on a donkey. This was the same day that Jewish families were arranging to purchase their “Passover” lambs—those that were without spot or blemish. Jesus knew His purpose and He was destined to fulfill it because it was going to bring glory to the Kingdom. The places, the situation and the people we are all sovereignly and divinely ordained. Yes…Even Judas.

And this is the same for you and I. This year God has orchestrated effectual doors of opportunity that will open before us to enter into both heavenly places and earthly opportunities. But we must overcome the fear of failure and release the unbelief to embrace great faith, count the cost and take responsibility for your destiny decisions, and walk through the open doors  to gain both visual and physical access.

Now it's important to note that in this life there are 2 kinds of people that we will meet on the road to destiny in this new season. Jesus did not walk alone. He had 12 helpers who promoted His destiny, they were destiny helpers and destiny killers and they both served a purpose.

Destiny helpers are people that have been positioned by heaven to make the journey of your destiny smooth. Of course we know that it is God that helps, He is the source of all help, however, He makes use of men as machinery for the delivery of these help on earth.  They're agents of change, transformation, elevation, enlargement, promotion and  uncommon breakthrough.

Destiny destroyers are those who always wonder can anything good come out of your life? They say this with their mouth, their attitude and their actions. Destiny killers will always see the negative side of you and their job is to discourage your efforts. But they can be used "for the good" and that good is to move you from a place of complacency to a place of destiny.

You're entrusted with power and granted authority to activate your commissioning to complete certain tasks, functions, or duties that no one else can do in this new season. But to reach our destiny we must honestly reflect upon who we are, know where we came from, plan for who we are called to become in the future and develop an intimacy that will weed out all unbelief that limits us. This is the discipline we must incorporate in order to accomplish the purposes of God. We must be determined to live life within God's purposeful will. Pray this prayer with utmost faith that your divine destiny and the connections are settled in this new season.

Enter Into Prayer

Dear Lord, in the name of Jesus, I thank you for another day of your mercy and grace toward me. I lift up Your name to praise. I exalt Who You are, acknowledging your greatness and sovereignty over all things. I humbly and boldly come before you asking for the blessing of the open door to form in this new season.  Doors that were closed to me in the past, preventing my promises from coming forth, will no longer be barriers, but they open now as double doors of provision, so that I am able to enter in and go through to regain the time that was stolen. Circumstances can no longer hold me hostage. I pray that every obstacle, hindrance, or any form of opposition will fall at my feet. I ask for God Himself to grant me wisdom and divine revelation to solve every mystery and train my hands to worship and war in a new way. I decree that every door that is before me, both in Heaven and on earth, will swing wide open.

Today, I denounce all the tricks of the devil towards my destiny for it is written, greater is Jesus Christ that dwells in me than the devil that is in the world. I reject I am a  failure. I refuse to be abased, rejected, forsaken, desolate and downcast. I render null and void the influence of destiny destroyers, in the name of Jesus. I decree and declare that every destiny destroyed by curse be reversed now in the name of Jesus. I render every power contending with my destiny powerless, in the name of Jesus I paralyze every strategy of the enemy contending against my family, ministry, business, and my life in the name of Jesus.  I bind the hands of every force working against my destiny, in Jesus Name. I plead the blood of Jesus over every curse, spell, vex, enchantment, and mind control over my life and ministry and I return them to the sender a hundred fold. I bind it to them by the blood of Jesus.
I will trust Him in whatever I do and wherever I am. I can never be thrown away or downgraded.

Enlighten me on my path of purpose. Remove every thing and person that tries to bring limitation. Give me eyes that see beyond the natural into the divine supernatural. Enlighten the path of purpose that leads me to fulfill my destiny in Christ. Let me see a new door of hope and the expanse of every divine possibility that lies before me.
Open the door of ears and eyes so that I may both see and hear the voice of my Shepherd. Help me receive and understand the revelation of how to walk in the fulfillment of my promises. Grant me a sound mind and steadfast emotions so that I may conquer all fear and doubt. Let the strength of my body be renewed so I can run as in the days of my youth. Give me a new realm of power and authority. Sickness and disease have no place in me.

I declare that Spirits of favor, counsel, might and power, come upon me, in the name of Jesus. I shall excel in this new season and nothing shall defile me. I shall possess the gates of my enemies. My ears shall hear good news and I shall not hear the voice of the enemy. My future is secured in Christ, in the name of Jesus. God has created me to do some definite services. He has committed into my hands some assignments which He has not committed to anybody else. He has not created me for nothing. I shall do good. I shall do His work. I shall walk in peace with all men. I pray all this and believe that it's done, In Christ name. Amen!

    Intercession

Prayer is the expression of man’s dependence upon God and his confidence in Him. When God answers prayer, He magnifies His faithfulness. Prayer is releasing the energies of God and asking God to do what we cannot do. Prayer is the breathing and panting of the Spirit after God. Prayer is a soul struggle. It is the hardest work God has given His children, but it is their most important work.

    Each Tuesday in
The Sanctuary we set aside time for intercession. We pray that you are able to gain strength and comfort from our time of Intercession.
