PLUG INTO GOD'S POWER

Picture
We are currently in our 10 Day Daniel Fast in preparation for our "Night of Prayer" scheduled in August. This fast is simply a way of putting the people of God in The Sanctuary in touch with the life-changing power of God for their lives. We have two nights of All Night Prayer scheduled (see Night of Prayer for more details), and we need the power of God in it. And, you don't program the power of God into something, you pray the power of God into it.

Fasting gives you more time for prayer. You can use the time you'd normally spend eating as time in prayer for what God wants to do among us during this time. In the Bible, fasting is always connected with prayer.

"While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off." Acts 13:2-3 (NIV)

Fasting demonstrates the depth of your desire when praying for something. It shows you that you are serious enough about your prayer request to pay a personal price. God honors deep desire and praying in faith.

"Even now," declares the Lord, "return to Me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning." Joel 2:12 (NASB)

Fasting releases God's supernatural power. It is a tool we can use when there is opposition to God's will. Satan would like nothing better than to cause division, discouragement, defeat, depression, and doubt among us. United prayer and fasting has always been used by God to deal a decisive blow to the enemy!

"God says, "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?" Isaiah 58:6 (NIV)

Prayer is the tool that God has given us to use on all the disrepair in our lives, in our church body, in our communities, in our country. I would urge you to use the experience of fasting to restore your focus and revive the power of prayer in your life. Feast on God during this important time.

Intercessory Prayer

O Lord God, Creator of all creation and my Creator! Today I give You thanks for having arranged the world so wonderfully. Thank You for having given us this earth that bears us all kinds of fruit! Thank You for the food prepared from the fruits of the earth! Father, I rejoice in Your creatures, I rejoice in all the fruits today, and I thank You! Thank You for our daily food and drink.

Father, thank You for having made my body in such a way as to be able to use the fruits of the earth and so develop and serve You. Thank You Father, for all those who, through their work, produce new life possibilities. Thank You for those who have much and give away to others!

Father, I decided to fast because Your Son Jesus Christ fasted and so did His apostles and disciples. Dear Heavenly Father, I present this day of fasting to You. Through fasting I want to listen to and live Your Word more. I want, during these 10 days, to learn to be turned more toward You, in spite of all the things that surround me. With this fast that I take upon myself freely..  Father, open our eyes, through fasting, to what You give us, to what we have! I am sorry for the blindness, which has taken hold of my senses so that I do not give thanks for the goods I have. I repent of every misuse of material goods because I used to judge their value wrongly. Make me able, through this fast, to see You and the people around me better. Through fasting, let love for You and for my neighbor grow in me.  I present You this fast for peace in my home, on my job, in my marriage and in my relationships.

Dear Lord, I fast because I know that in this way my longing for You will grow in me. Eagerly and with gratitude do I think of your Son's words: "How blest are the poor in spirit; for the kingdom is theirs." Father, make me poor before You. Grant me grace that through fasting my desire for You may grow, that my heart may long for You as the deer panteth for waters. Oh Father, I especially pray to You, to grant me the grace to become aware that I am but a pilgrim on this earth, that when passing away to the other world I shall not take anything but love and good deeds. Let the awareness grow within me that even when I possess something I cannot call it my own, for I only received it from You to manage it. Father, grant me grace that through fasting I may become more humble and more willing to do Your will! So cleanse me of my selfishness and haughtiness.

Through this fast cleanse me of all bad habits and calm my passions, and let Your virtues increase in me. Let the depth of my soul open to Your grace through this fast so that it may totally affect and cleanse me.Help me to be always like Your Son in trials and temptations, to resist every temptation, so as to be able to serve You and seek Your word more and more, day after day so that we may become more and more like you and your Son, Jesus Christ, in the Holy Spirit. Amen

Heal My Grieving Heart

Picture
Many people will quote during time of loss that, "Time heals all wounds.” If I had a dollar for every time someone has said that to me over the past several years, I’d have racks of bills in front of me. In the past nine years, I’ve faced the loss of five members of my family. Through clouds of disbelief and sorrow, I watched my love ones pass on. With each loss, well-meaning people offered cliches such as the one mentioned above. Brace yourself, for I’m going to say something that may shock many of you. Time does not heal.

The passage of days does not guarantee comfort or healing. The emotional wounds caused by loss will not dissipate on their own. But don’t despair. There is hope in the midst of mourning. If there is one thing I have learned during this season in my life it is this: God heals all wounds. According to Matthew 5:4, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Notice it says will, not might or could or ought or any other vague remark. God will comfort those of us whose hearts are breaking over the loss of a loved one. On those days when I feel the overwhelming crush of grief and despair, I can cling to this assurance from my Heavenly Father.

Yes, loss is overwhelming, scary, and life changing. But God has said in His word, that He will soothe our pain-filled hearts. Open yourself to God. He loves you and promises to do what no amount of time can ever accomplish: the restoration of a wounded, grieving soul. If you are experiencing grief over the loss of someone in your life, pray this prayer of Intercession to ask our Heavenly Father to "Heal Your Grieving Heart".

Intercessory Prayer

Please help me in this time of loss of my loved one. I seem to be frozen with this overwhelming grief. I don't understand why my life is filled with this pain and heartache. But I turn my eyes to you as I seek to find the strength to trust in your faithfulness. You, Lord are a God of comfort and love and I ask You to help me to patiently wait on you and not despair; I will quietly wait for your salvation. My heart is crushed, but I know that you will not abandon me. Please show me your compassion, Lord. Help me through the pain so that I will hope in you again. I believe the promise in your Word to send me fresh mercy each day. Though 1 can't see past today, I trust your love will never fail me.

Jesus, You came to heal the brokenhearted and my heart is broken today Lord, and only you can heal my sorrow over losing my loved one. I ask You, Lord to comfort me because You love me and have promised me everlasting consolation and hope through Your grace.

Blessed be to God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforts me in all my tribulations, that I may be protected from any trouble and hurt as I walk with You, Lord, through the grief of losing my loved one.

In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

Give Me Your Wisdom

Picture
Many of us are at crossroads in our lives as we feel compelled and pulled to make decisions that are contrary to the world's thinking as we are seeking the Will of God for our lives. We are seeking answers to pressing questions, directions as to which road to take, and wisdom to make sound decisions. The Word of God is very clear on asking for Wisdom. Wisdom, true wisdom comes from God. Jesus is wisdom as declared in His Word in 1st Corinthians 1:30, “But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God — and righteousness and sanctification and redemption — God’s Word to us says to ask for [His] wisdom! If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways (James 1:5-8).

Therefore with this knowledge let us go boldly to the throne of grace through the precious Blood of Jesus Christ to ask for wisdom. Call, cry out for wisdom and depending on His promise to you that our Heavenly Father will give it to you!

Intercessory Prayer

Heavenly Father, I come to You now in the Name of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Heavenly Father, I thank you that Your Word gives knowledge, instruction, wisdom, and understanding to all who pay attention to its truths. You promised to impart wisdom to me if I will listen to Your Words and attain unto Your wise counsels. I, therefore, enter Your presence with trust, knowing that You will give me wisdom according to II Chronicles 1:10. Heavenly Father, fill me with the spirit of wisdom so that I will be able to discern Your will. With You, Lord, there is both strength and wisdom according to Job 12:13. Heavenly Father, let my mouth speak Your wisdom, Lord, because of the righteousness You have imparted to me according to Psalms 37:30. In the hidden part of my life, make me know Your wisdom according to Psalms 51:6. Teach me to number my days, so that I may gain a heart of wisdom according to Psalms 90:12. Heavenly Father, Your wisdom and knowledge makes me happy, because the gain of it is better than fine gold. By wisdom You founded the earth, and by knowledge You established the heavens according to Proverbs 3:13-20. Christ Jesus, I thank You that my eyes of Your understanding are continually being enlightened; that I may know Your calling, and the riches of Your glory, the inheritance for Your saints and I thank You for Your exceeding greatness. I believe, trust and rely on You only. Heavenly Father, I believe that Jesus is Your Son, that He died on the cross for my sins, I believe that You, Heavenly Father raised Jesus from the dead and He now sits at Your right hand in heaven according to Ephesians 1:17-23. Heavenly Father, thank You for sending Jesus who represents Your power and wisdom to us. Because I am in Him – and desire to always abide in Him. He has given unto me wisdom, and righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. It is this reality that causes me to glory in You forever according to I Corinthians 1:22- 31. In the Name of Jesus I pray with thanksgiving. Amen.

Just want to say, Thank You

Picture
It is very important that we are thankful to the Lord for the many blessings that He bestows upon our life. Many times we are quick to forget the good things that God has given us and tend to think more about the trouble and heartache that life sometimes brings.

When we say, "Thanks" what do we mean by it? Well, it is an expression of appreciation, isn't it? Shouldn't we appreciate God? Shouldn't we tell Him so? Saying, "Thanks," is making known that person's value to you. You do not thank people who are not valuable to you. Saying "Thanks," is gratitude, told to another dear to you, usually. Why not God? Isn't He the dearest of all?

The Bible reminds us that ungodly people do not give thanks unto God. This is a characteristic of the ungodly. In Romans 1:21 we read, "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified Him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened." And they went progressively down, until they worshipped idols, became fools, worshipped animals and beasts, and, God finally gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts. That is a tragic thing. Why? Because they did not honor God as God and they were not thankful. It is characteristic of the ungodly that they never say to God, "Thank You for all that You are to me, for giving me life and all the good things that are in life." Ungodly people do not glorify Him as God, neither are they thankful. But godly people do give thanks to God. They are thankful, according to God's Word.

It is the will of God in Christ Jesus is to give thanks to God in everything, every believer should know why we should give thanks and be grateful all the time. Gratitude is a feeling of thankfulness and appreciation of everything the Almighty God is doing in our daily life. It is an act that allows what we desire to flow into our experience. Make saying thank you to your higher power an integral part of your day – many find that the daily practice of counting your blessings pays dividends and brings great rewards.

Intercessory Prayer

Dear Father God, I am thankful for this day; for this is the day that You have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. I am thankful for the Blood of Jesus, knowing it cleanses us from all unrighteousness according to 1 John 1:9 and allows us to come boldly to the throne of grace according to Hebrews 4:16. I am thankful for the power in the Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth to protect, cleanse, heal, deliver, sanctify, redeem, justify, and to make all things new.

Heavenly Father, I am thankful for so many things. I am thankful that Your Word is true and established in heaven according to Matthew 24:35; that Your mercy endures forever according to Psalms 118:1; that Your grace is sufficient for us according to 2 Corinthians 12:9. I am thankful for Your angels and for Your protection according to Psalms 91; for Your salvation. That our names are written in the lamb’s book of life according to Revelation 21:27; that everyone in our households are saved according to Acts 16:31. I am thankful for Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for Your peace which passes all understanding according to Philippians 4:7. Thank You for every battle and every problem we face, knowing that the battle is an opportunity to cause our revelation knowledge parts (pebbles) to become one solid rock that the gates of hell can’t prevail against us. Each and every battle is an opportunity for us to take root so we can bear fruit. We know that the trying of our faith turns into patience, causing us to form into perfect men and women, wanting nothing. Thank You that we can ask You for whatever we will and as long as we are connected to the vine, we have the petitions we ask for. Thank You for Your provisions as You supply all our needs according to Your riches in glory. Thank You for divine prosperity. Thank You for Your healing, past, present, and future as You are Jehovah Rophe. Thank You for divine health. Thank You for physical and spiritual hearing, seeing, feeling, smelling, and tasting. Thank You for the sun, moon, stars, trees, grass, air, water, plants, flowers, animals, mountains, valleys and all the other wonderful things You created for us yet we so often take for granted.

Thank You Heavenly Father for Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for being present with us always. Thank You for the gifts of the Spirit: The word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, workings of miracles, prophesy, discerning of spirits. Thank You for the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control according to Galatians 5:22. Thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You for being the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace according to Isaiah 9:6; The Way, The Truth, The Life according to John 14:6; The Light according to John 8:12; The Door according to John 10:9; The Bread of Life according to John 6:35; The Good Shepherd according to John 10:11; The Redeemer according to Psalms 78:35; The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords according to Revelations 19:16. Heavenly Father, I praise and thank You for everything You have done, for everything You are doing, and for everything You are going to do. I bless You Lord. Amen.

The Battle is Yours. Your Weapon is the Sword of the Spirit.

Picture
The soul of the Christian is of principal interest to satan. He will use thoughts and arguments to distract us from our faith. But we have a weapon that we seldom use but is very powerful.

"And the sword of the spirit which is the word of God"
~ Ephesians 6:17

A sword is an unmistakable weapon of offense. No doubt that it can also be used as a tool for defense. This however is no ordinary sword. This sword is made of the Spirit and the Word. In spiritual warfare the battles are fought with words. Words packed and backed up with the Spirit of God. And God's Word is truth, plain and simple. We can have perfect confidence in the fact that His words are accurate, true and unerring. When followed, they guide us without fail in the paths that we need to walk and will win the battles we need to win. There is no enemy the Word of God, coupled with His Spirit, cannot defeat. And so, armed only with our sword, we step out to fight our enemies head-on. The struggle is real. It is immediate, and it is in front of us. Our future in God's Kingdom is on the line, and we take up the battle so that we may hold fast to the future He has promised us. We fight knowing the end of the story and stand on one of the many powerful and sure promises in God's Word tell us:

But he who endures to the end shall be saved. ~Matthew 24:13

What a  powerful and sure promise in God's Word, it tell us that if we remain dedicated to God and His Word, we will make it to the end, and we will be saved. There is no doubt in this statement. So take up your sword. The battle is ours.

Intercessory Prayer

Heavenly Father, I now put in each of our hands the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God, which we choose to use against all forces of evil. I declare that we defeat the enemy with the Word of God as the Spirit of God leads us according to Revelation 19:11-16. I put away murmuring, complaining, condemning and criticizing from each of us. I thank You that You are OUR AUTHORITY, JESUS and THE LORD OF HOSTS, JEHOVAH SABBOATH. I now take the Sword of the Spirit and use the authority that God has ordained me with according to Luke 9:1, for we have been given power and authority over all the devils and demons, to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy according to Luke 10:19.

Heavenly Father, as we go out today, let us recognize You as Jehovah Sabaoth, we will not fear, for You have called us by name, we are Yours. When we pass through the waters, You will be with us, and through the rivers, they will not overtake us. When we walk through the fire, we will not be burned, neither will the flame kindle upon us according to Isaiah 43:1-2. We will not be dismayed, for You are our God according to Isaiah 41:10. We will wait upon You Lord and You will renew our strength. We will mount up with wings as eagles. We will run and not be weary. We will walk and not faint according to Isaiah 40:31. We will not be afraid or dismayed by reason of the great multitude. The battle is not ours but Yours according to II Chronicles 20:15. You are on our side; therefore we will fear no man according to Psalms 118:6. When the enemy comes in like a flood, Your Spirit will lift up a standard against him according to Isaiah 59:19. You did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind according to 2 Timothy 1:7. Greater is Jesus in us than any demon, devil, fallen angel, evil force, power, principality, and rulers of darkness, spiritual wickedness, satan, and those under him. Greater is Jesus in us than the devil is in the world according to I John 4:4. Greater is Jesus in us than all our circumstances and all our reasoning. Therefore, we follow You Jesus. We cry out to You Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty, who was, who is, and who is to come. You have created all things and for Your pleasure and by Your will, they are and were created and continue to exist. You are worthy to receive glory, honor, and power. To You belongs the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever according to Matthew 6:13. Amen.

    Intercession

Prayer is the expression of man’s dependence upon God and his confidence in Him. When God answers prayer, He magnifies His faithfulness. Prayer is releasing the energies of God and asking God to do what we cannot do. Prayer is the breathing and panting of the Spirit after God. Prayer is a soul struggle. It is the hardest work God has given His children, but it is their most important work.

    Each Tuesday in
The Sanctuary we set aside time for intercession. We pray that you are able to gain strength and comfort from our time of Intercession.
