Deliver Me From The Evil One

How often do you ask God to protect you on your journey? Do you do it each day? Only when you have a long trip to take or you sense trouble?  Do you pray daily for your husband, children, family and friends protection? As we move about this world there are those who seek to destroy the purpose that God has for our lives. The level of manipulation and deception that is present in our world today should motivate us to pray daily for God's heavenly protection. Many of our enemies are seen and unseen but we have been not left without a defense. 


Jesus taught us how to pray for protection. He included a request for protection against the enemy of our souls in Matthew 6:13, "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one". How often do you ask God to protect you from the enemy’s ploys against you each day? I make it a daily habit as I know that the enemy comes to seek kill and destroy but I know that my God is the great Protector. His name in Hebrew to describe this is Jehovah-Nissi. He is the One who defends, delivers, covers, preserves, shelters and watches over us.  Prayers of protection can keep us in better touch with the God who never sleeps nor slumbers but guarantees His presence around us at all times. 

I imagine Jesus taught us to pray like this because He wants us to grasp that part of prayer is asking for protection. I’m not saying that God does not protect us when we do not pray for protection. But sometimes we need to call upon Him in our prayers for protection. We need to pray for protection for our loved ones every day. Pray for loved ones by name, one by one. You can never pray too much for one person. Sometimes it helps to make a list of all the people that you need to pray for each day. Doing this not only offers us protection, but also sets a great example for our children. I think there is something to realizing that there are spiritual dangers out there that only God and prayer can conquer. Enter into Intercession to consciously pray for protection and the protection of others.

Intercession Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come to You now in the Name of ourLord and Savior Christ Jesus, we make a joyful shout to You, we come before Your Presence with singing, and we enter into Your gates with thanksgiving, and into Your courts with praise, and You are good from everlasting to everlasting.  

You are our Lord, our refuge, our fortress and our God in whom we can trust. We ask You to deliver us from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. We ask You to cover each of us with Your feathers and let us walk under Your wings to take refuge. We ask You to let Your faithfulness and truth be our shield and armor. We ask You to let us not be afraid of the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; nor for the deadly pestilence that walketh in darkness nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. We ask You to cause a thousand to fall at our side, and ten thousand at our right hand and not to let any come near us. We ask You to give Your angels charge over us to keep us in all Your ways and let Your angel’s hands lift us up, so we do not even dash our foot against a stone or be hurt in any way. We ask You to let us tread upon the lion and serpent and to let us trample the young lion and the serpent under our feet. We ask You Heavenly Father, to answer us when we call upon You, be with us in trouble, deliver us, honor us and satisfy us with a long life and show us Your salvation. Heavenly Father, we thank You that these things are written in Psalms 91.

We decree and declare the victory for our lives. We reject all the insinuations, accusations, and temptations of our adversary. We affirm that the Word of God is true and we choose to live in obedience to You Lord Jesus and in fellowship with You. Open our eyes and show us the areas of our lives that do not please You. Work in us to cleanse us from all ground that would give the evil one a foothold against us. We do in every way stand in all that it means to be your adopted child and we welcome all the ministry of Your Holy Spirit. Heavenly Father, we pray that now and through our lives, You would strengthen and enlighten us, show us the way those who wish to  do us harm and the demonic spirits that are trying to hinder, tempt, lie, and distort the truth in our lives. Enable us to be the kind of people that will please you. Enable us to be aggressive in prayer and faith. Enable us to be aggressive mentally, to think about and practice Your word, and to give You, Your rightful place in our lives. Heavenly Father, we place all of our cares, all of our anxieties, all of our worries and all of our concerns once and for all on You, because we know that You love us and watch over us according to 1 Peter 5:7.

Lord Jesus we ask You to create a hedge of protection of angels my mind and loose Your Mighty and Warring angels around our homes, cars, trucks, lands, properties, animals, and work places to protect me from the enemy in Christ Jesus’ Holy Name, to God be the Glory, Amen!
