- Contributed by: Pastor Yolanda Douthit - Scripture Reading — Ephesians 1:17-23 "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened … that you may know the hope to which he has called you …" - Ephesians 1:18 What a blessing it is to read this prayer of the apostle Paul! He asks that our Father will open, or enlighten, the eyes of our hearts. Why? That we may “know him better,” have “the Spirit of wisdom and revelation,” and know the hope of all that God promises to us. With hearts open to the wonder of all that God has done, we are empowered by his Spirit to live faithfully for him, as Jesus did. When we are open to God’s working in and through our lives, we are like a blank page on which he writes His poetry, an empty canvas on which He works his artistry, softened clay with which He molds our earthen vessel to be used by Him. Perhaps the right combination to achieve this alignment is found in a portion of openheartedness and illumination. When our hearts and minds are equally devoted to the God of infinite wisdom than we can understand just how our lives are meant to serve to the Kingdom. When I was diligently searching the means to which I could live out my divine purpose, I would often ask Jesus to make me brave, humble, compassionate, pure, loving and open to do what He had shown me. Today ask the Father to open your heart and bring illumination through His Word to all that He can do in your life and then look forward with sure hope that it shall be done. Prayer
Jesus, Encourage me to be singleminded in my pursuit of purpose. That I be open to your wisdom and workings in my life. In your name I lay my hope. Amen!

Meditate On
His Goodness We are told to “be of the same mind toward one another” which means essentially that we must develop and maintain the mind of Christ or God’s thoughts. But if our thoughts are contrary to God’s, then we must exchange our thinking with God’s and for that process, He has given us His inspired, inerrant, and authoritative Word. So what is our need? We are to study the Scripture, but for that to be effective, we also need to develop the art of biblical meditation. Enter into The Sanctuary to meditate on the Word of God.
