6/25/2014 0 Comments Hold On - Help Is on the Way...![]() I was prepared to write something totally different for this blog entry. But then, someone I know, a mother and a wife, a younger aged mother and wife, unexpectedly lost her husband. Her children lost their father. I was reminded of the pain I experienced...losing the person I loved...suddenly. I remembered leaving home with him sleeping on the sofa, kissing him on the forehead. I remembered not knowing that would be the last time I saw him. I remembered him never coming home again. I remember the loss that followed that loss. The loss of my grandfather about six weeks later. The loss of my unborn child about twenty days after I lost my grandfather…I remembered wanting to give up... I know I often speak of remembering. It's something I find helpful when difficult times arise. Remembering what God has already done in my life tends to help me refocus. It helps adjust the lens and gives me a better perspective. It helps me to continue to believe and not fear (Luke 8:50). It reminds me that if God ever did it once He will do it again. All that is required from us is belief (Mark 9:23). With fatal disease, unexpected death and all of the other ills of this imperfect world, it is quite possible for us, in our own strength, to become exhausted, lose our grip and let go. It can be easy during these times for Satan to convince us to discard our faith. However, Hebrews 10:35 admonishes us: Do not lose your courage, then, because it brings with it a great reward. (Hebrews 10:35 GNBDC). Satan also knows that our reward will be great if we are steadfast during such times. He knows that after walking through these types of valleys, great reward usually follows. So he is there, encouraging and in anticipation of us giving up. The storms of life may come against us and the devil may try to move us, but we should hold on (Hebrews 10:23). ~Contributed by Veronica F. Covered & Kept Ministries Enter into worship.

6/19/2014 0 Comments Have Thine WayOriginally posted 6/23/14 ![]() Have Thine Way" is a popular hymn that many of us have sung or heard in our lifetime. This hymn is from the passage of scripture from Jeremiah 18:3, "So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him." The history of this song is found with Adelaide A. Pollard, a hymn writer, was hoping to go to Africa as a missionary but found herself unable to raise the needed funds to make the journey. Discouraged, she attended prayer meeting one evening in 1902. There an old woman prayed: "Lord, it doesn't matter what you bring into our lives--just have your way with us." The words sank home. Adelaide went home. She meditated on the old woman's prayer and on Bible texts in Jeremiah 18:3,4 and Isaiah which referred to God as a potter. As a result, she wrote a hymn which millions have sung: Have Thine own way, Lord! Have Thine own way! Thou art the potter; I am the clay. Mold me and make me after Thy will, While I am waiting, yielded and still." How many of us understand the frustration of Adelaide, we have so many plans and desires but they seem to not come together. Often into our lives come discouragements and heartaches that we cannot understand. As children of God, however, we must learn never to question the ways of our sovereign God—but simply to say: Have Thine Way. Her words here teach us that we are clay in the Master Potter’s hands. Although it may be challenging, when we submit to the Potter’s touch, we experience the joy of his perfect will. Are you willing to be shaped for God’s use? If so, the first step is to trust Jesus, as your Savior and Lord. The choice is yours!! If you have failed to cooperate with the divine Potter, it is not too late for you to be made into a useful vessel if you will yield to Him. On this Worship Wednesday surrender all to Him and let His will be your will in all ways. Let him "Have His Way". 6/11/2014 0 Comments Something Happens, Jesus!![]() For the most part, I am faithful in relying on God and believing Him for help. The current set of challenges that I am facing is so different than anything I’ve ever experienced before. I won’t say more difficult, I won’t say worse. Just different and I know it is because God is about to do something very different in my life. Supernatural. The challenges match the shift that is happening. This past Friday, though, I felt like I just got the wind knocked out of me. It kind of came out of no where. Like one of those giant waves that come and knock you down when you are at the beach standing waist deep in water. There should be no possibility of water rising above your head and taking you down. But out of nowhere, here it comes, knocks you down and disorients you. Fills your nose, ears, eyes and lungs with water. It embarrasses you and just like with the wave, we say, “I’m ok. I’m fine.” Yet, on the inside we are terrified—trembling. Scared. To. Death. That was me on Friday. I got on the weekly prayer meeting call and and was upset with myself for being shaken. Annoyed that I had allowed myself to have a moment. We are talking about walking in power and here I was having a moment. I tried telling myself: Chile please, get your entire life. Nobody has time for a moment around here. God has things for you to do—right now. But then at the end of the call. After I had heard everyone’s trouble, challenges and testimonies, I heard God say: I know who you are and I know what you need and I know where I’m taking you and I know what you need to get there and I have ALREADY given it to you. Stop worrying about if it is coming and KNOW that it is ALREADY there. Just keep walking. I’ve been deep in meditation on the first book of Genesis. Meditating incessantly on God’s creation of the Garden of Eden. I remembered what I was reading and what God revealed to me again tat this time when He said, “It’s already there.” God said, “I prepared the way for you." PreparED. He did not say He is preparing a way. He said it is already done. By the time that lightbulb went off in my spirit, we were worshipping and this song came on…Something Happens (Jesus). When you get overcome, out of nowhere, by a 20 foot wave, just call on the name of God. Oh hallelujah! Something will definitely happen when you call Him. The Sanctuary Contributor ~Veronica F. Covered & Kept Enter Into Worship6/5/2014 0 Comments Something out of NothingHas anyone ever told you that you would never be "nothing"? That nothing would ever come out of your life. That not one thing will come from all that you have been through? That because your parents were nothing, you will never amount to anything? I have! I have had those who I considered to be family and deepest confidants to say that I would never be anything. And it cut deep and wounded me. But I am so glad that I knew deep in the recess of my soul, when these words that were spewed to wound and destroy me, that my Intelligent has the power something out of nothing. Ex nihilo is a latin phrase meaning "out of nothing". It often appears in conduction with the concept of creation. Increatio ex nihilo means "creation out of nothing". This mean where nothing existed before, something was created by our Creator. Genesis 1:1-4 says, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then he separated the light from the darkness. This means that He took a bare and empty substance and made it anew, He took away the void and the darkness and replaced it with light. He saw the potential in the raw material and made something quite glorious from it. People are surely baffled by this theory, "Something can come from nothing". Hebrews 11:3 states, "By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God's command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen." The opening words in the book of beginnings reveal the very character and purpose of God; first He forms and then He fills. God formed the earth and then filled it with plants and animals. God formed the heavens and then filled it with stars and planets. Indeed, He took this same approach when it came to the time to create man, “The Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and [then] breathed [filled]…his nostrils with the breathe of life” (Genesis 2: 7). God forms and he fills! This is descriptive of what He does with human lives today. We are formless, empty, in darkness with no shape or meaning to life. Powerless, unfulfilled and going nowhere, with despair and sadness permeating from our very being. But God, our Intelligent Designer sees, in His creativity, what we can become; a masterpiece. God can take the broken pieces, the broken dreams and the broken lives that people see as useless and re-create it into something….Something Out Of Nothing. Do you believe this truth for yourself? To be something, to be that purposeful somebody, we need the creative touch of God upon our lives. We need an infilling of His power, grace and mercy. Our Creator has the power to re-form our lives and fill it with glory, power, abundance, favor, provision, love, joy, peace, fruitful relationships and so many other things. You see, that is God’s intention for us right from the very foundation of the world….was to make something out of nothing! I am so thankful that He saw something in me! ~Yolanda D. What is Worship?
The Apostle Paul described true worship perfectly in Romans 12:1:
“I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God which is your spiritual service of worship." Worship is first of all an experience. It may express itself through certain forms, but it is not primarily a form. It is an experience. It is a consciousness of the presence of God and a response to that consciousness. Worship expresses itself as an outreach of the deepest emotions of the soul in adoration, reverence, homage, exaltation, and praise to the Almighty. We hope that our Worship Wednesday creates a deeper more meaningful worship experience for you. Visit our other inspirational blog
