10/16/2013 0 Comments Worship in Your Barren Land"Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem, you who have never been in labor. For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who ![]() Can you imagine the reaction of a barren woman in ancient Israel upon being told to sing? There were few things more shameful in those days for a woman than not being able to bear children. Doubtless she would have been ridiculed by other women and may have even felt abandoned by God. Sometimes a woman was set aside by her husband because she was unable to bear children. The Lord's remedy for barrenness was worship. There have been instances where God has opened the wombs of barren women who came before him with songs of supplication and praise. Songs of healing prayer have been a tool to bring about the healing of various physical illnesses. In addition, this song of the barren reaches to areas of spiritual barrenness. We all have areas in our lives where we do not see fruit. It could be the fruit of reconciliation with a family member, the blossoming of a relationship or maybe a business, a particular ministry that has not yet been realized or a physical problem that continues to bring anguish. It could be that it is time to address that barrenness with the power of song. You might find that God will bring about a spiritual breakthrough in those areas of bondage in your life. Jesus told us that those who believe in him would have rivers of living water that would flow from our hearts. If you feel that your river has run dry and left your spiritual land barren I suggest you do as Moses and Israel did. From there they went to Beer, which is the well where the Lord said to Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water. Then Israel sang this song: Spring up, O well! All of you sing to it ... (Numbers 21:16-17) Do you have a barren place in your life? Do you find yourself in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water? Today allow the Father to quench your thirsty soul, allow the song minister to your barrenness and bring water to your soul and guide you through your barren land.

What is Worship?
The Apostle Paul described true worship perfectly in Romans 12:1:
“I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God which is your spiritual service of worship." Worship is first of all an experience. It may express itself through certain forms, but it is not primarily a form. It is an experience. It is a consciousness of the presence of God and a response to that consciousness. Worship expresses itself as an outreach of the deepest emotions of the soul in adoration, reverence, homage, exaltation, and praise to the Almighty.
